GUIDELINES FOR AGREEMENT ON PERFORMANCE OF MATERIAL
The opportunity to have a play presented by Carnoustie Theatre Club
[CTC] is an extremely exciting and, hopefully, positive experience.
We all want to see our work produced. However, it is imperative that CTC protects the interests of our Club, and you as a potential producer, in ensuring that a proposed production will be both beneficial to the Club in terms of reputation and/or commercial return, and meets the requirements of the owners of the source material in relation to copyright or performance rights.
Approval for performance of any work within or on behalf of the Theatre Club must therefore be obtained by the Committee in advance of any scheduling of performance of any future productions
Any proposal for future production should therefore be submitted for consideration of the Committee of Carnoustie Theatre Club at the earliest possible date using the form attached and include a copy of the play proposed for performance.
While Carnoustie Theatre Club reserves the right to approve or reject the proposed performance of any work, in considering the merits of performance it is not the role or function of the Committee to comment on the artistic content of such material, but to reach a decision around potential performance based solely on grounds of reputation and commerce.
it should be stressed that any such decision will only be taken following consultation with the producer – including individual presentation by the prospective producer to the Committee, as requested - and said approval will not being unreasonably withheld.
